Brief summary of our teen's week 9 meeting

Jacob Mullinax shared our lesson this night. He took his scripture passage from II Timothy 2: 8-15 & 21-26. Believers must be sufferers and laborers for His cause. Jacob explained how Paul stood firm in his faith in God and was standfast in telling others about God. Concerning faith, Jacob used a personal illustration in relation to his own dad. His dad was in an accident in which case was told chances are he would never walk again. His grandfather, a minister, came to father's bed side and specifically asked his son (Jacob's father) if he totally had faith in God that God would heal him to walk again. After earnest praying to Almighty God, his father was healed and walked out of the hospital. To the eyes of world one may wonder why we go through what we do; however, non believers can't comprehend not only what blessings God has for us here on earth but the eternal blessings he has for us in heaven. Jacob pointed out how God has a specific plan for each and every one of us and, we are to trust God, have faith in God that He will see us through every aspect of our lives, and he truly loves us and cares for us.. How do we find this plan. Jacob emphasized vs.15 which states, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." Further, he stated to the teans the dangers of putting other things between you and God. Doing this limits God's blessings in your lives. He encouraged everyone in attendance not only to choose God but not to be ashamed of telling others about God. We need to be a good servant in order to lay seeds for others to come to Christ.

God has a specific plan for each and everyone of us. We all have specific abilities that God has given us. Many will say they can't do this or that for God; but if the applicable duty is God's will it is foolish for any of us to under estimate the Almighty Power of God. It is He who created us, it is He who created this world, it is He who sent his only begotten Son to die for us that we might have eternal life, and it is He who lives within us when we choose to follow him. God has so many blessings for us every single day; however, he has given all of us freedom of choice whether we choose to follow him or follow Satan. CS LEWIS wrote “why, then, did God give free will? Because free will, though it makes evil possible, is also the only thing that makes possible any love or goodness or joy worth having.

GUIDELINES FOR CHRISTIAN LIVING

It is God’s purpose that each of you will grow into full stature and become mature in Christ.

1. Read the Bible Daily

Where do you find spiritual food? In the Bible, the Word of God

95% of the difficulties you will experience as a Christian can be traced to a lack of Bible study and reading

Memorization come to mind when you do not have your Bible…….****sleepless nights, when driving a car, traveling, when making an instant decision. It comforts, guides, corrects, encourages.

2. Learn to Pray

Did you know EVERY prayer will be answered. Sometimes the answer may be “yes”, sometimes “no’, and sometimes “wait”. Only God knows what we need and what is best for us. Your prayer should always be conditioned by “Thy will be done”

Prayer is communicating. A baby starts out with for example smiling at his parents…..continues until one day he/she can say a word. God gets very excited when his children respond and depend on him.

The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. You can do this all through the day.

3. Rely on the Holy Spirit

Remember that Christ dwells in you through the Holy Spirit. Ask him to take over in your life. ***** Do not fret and worry about important decisions / Do not worry about tomorrow, he sees the end from the beginning.

A true victorious Christian is confident (no matter what) that God is in control and you will be victorious in the end.

4. Attend Church Regularly

Christianity is a religion of fellowship. Following Christ means love, righteousness, service; and these can only be achieved and expressed through social relations. These social relationships are to be found in the church.

5. Be a Witnessing Christian

If you are doing the previous guidelines this will become easy because you WANT others to know who Jesus is and what he can do for them just like he did for you.

We are all commissioned to tell others about Christ. Remember God says “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven’.

6. Let Us Love

Jesus says, By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. Of all the gifts God offeres His children, love is the greatest.

Remember God loved you so much he gave his only begotten Son to die so you could have eternal life in heaven.

7. Be an Obedient Christian

Let Christ have first place in all the choices of your life. It makes life much easier to live.

8. Learn How To Meet Temptation

Temptation is not sin….it is YIELDING that is sin. The more you focus on God the easier it is to not get caught up in unwanted temptation that will mess your life up in a horrible way.

9. Be a Wholesome Christian

That means every single day in every part of your life. This deals with your dress, the way you talk, how you treat others, etc. It’s always having the attitude is this what I would do if Jesus was standing right beside me.

10. Live Above Your Circumstances

God made you as you are! He placed you where you are! So you can best serve and glorify Him just as you are, where you are. So many people dwell on the grass is greener on the other side, wishing their life was different, etc. so much that they overlook all the advantages and opportunities open to them right where they are.

THESE PRINCIPLE AND SUGGESTIONS MAY SEEM SIMPLE—BUT KEEP THEM—THEY WORK.

The last sectment of every meeting is Council Time conducted by our Director, Steve Fowler.
