Brief summary of our teen's week 5 meeting

Daniel was taken from his own country (Daniel 1:1-21). He was to eat from the king's table. He was assigned a daily amount of food and wine from the king's table. He was to be trained for three years, and after that was to enter the king's service. But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. He was granted that right as well as proved that his way was the right way and excelled above other men. In fact, Nebuchadnezzar (king of Babylon) found none equal to Daniel. Through being a witness for God, Daniel not only stood firm with his relationship with God but the story will soon unfold that his resolve literarily changed a nation.

Daniel was firm in his stance for God. If Daniel was here today I think he would confirm the basics of following God. People who desire to get close to God share three common characteristics. First, they read their Bibles regularly. Second, they pray and worship. They spend time honoring God and talking over their lives with Him each day. Third, they obey God. If they sense God is leading them to do something, they do it.

Sometimes we may feel timid about sharing the Gospel. But remember that we are plugged in to the Ultimate Source of power. And we're not some wimpy flashlight -- Jesus said we're the light of the world! God is ready to give us the power we need to share the Good News about Jesus Christ anytime, any place, with anyone.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
